Enterprise in Action
Through it's commitment to raising the profile of enterprise, BES has delivered a number of diverse programmes:
- New Entrepreneur Scholarship – funded through the Learning & Skills Council together with the National Federation of Enterprise Agencies (NFEA), the programme provided initial basic information sessions, business plan training, business advice sessions, post start business support and support funding. This programme was managed and delivered by BES across the most disadvantaged areas of The West Midlands
- Barclay’s Bank Plc Start Right and Business Idea’s workshops – funded by Barclay’s Bank to deliver group awareness sessions throughout Southern Staffordshire area
- East Staffordshire Rural Enterprise Grant Scheme – a grant fund provided by East Staffordshire Borough Council to new and young businesses within the rural areas of the Borough
- Work Based Learning For Adults and New Deal Self Employment Option – a Jobcentre Plus funded programme of information sessions, business plan training and post start business support for unemployed people
- Business Volunteer Mentors –NFEA funded business mentoring
- Burton Entrepreneurs –An SRB funded programme for the promotion of self employment, mentoring, community events and sign posting across the inner wards of Burton Upon Trent to encourage more people to set up in Business
- Opportunities in Employment – A European and Cannock Chase funded programme to promote self employment opportunities. It also provided job search support, mentoring, community events and sign posting across Chadsmoor, Broomhill and the Bevan Lee estate
- Lichfield rural Enterprise Programme –Lichfield District Council funded the promotion of self employment across the rural areas of the Lichfield district
- The BEST suite of business Modules -short and practical workshops covering the full range of business and financial planning and business development requirements
- The BEST suite of personal development modules –a whole range of short, practical workshops designed to develop individual personal skills
- Real Times, Real Life –a practical participative 20 hour programme aimed at those facing life change i.e. redundancy, early retirement, those leaving school etc
- Train the Mentor –a programme designed to promote the role of mentoring within the workplace or with new start business owners
- CIEH Food Hygiene –certificated programmes over 1 and 2 days designed to ensure that all those employed within food distribution understand the health and hygiene needs. This programme can be delivered with bi-lingual support
- Student Apprenticeship In Entrepreneurship –developed for delivery in schools aimed at Key Stage 4/5 students. The prime benefit to the student is to encourage them to think in a more entrepreneurial way which may in later years encourage them to consider self employment
- Enterprise Through Sport –a practical hands on workshop for young people, particularly those not in Education, Employment or Training, to learn directly from entrepreneurs on what self employment can bring to their lives. This programme is based in a sports environment
